Blocking Windows 10 Update on a domain with Group Policy

To block the upgrade by using Computer Configuration, follow these steps:

  1. Click Computer Configuration.
  2. Click Policies.
  3. Click Administrative Templates.
  4. Click Windows Components.
  5. Click Windows Update.
  6. Double-click Turn off the upgrade to the latest version of Windows through Windows Update.
  7. Click Enable.

If you don't see the option, you'll need to install one of the following updates:

Despite the above, you will still get the upgrade icon in the taskbar but clicking on it will show that the administrator has blocked the update. To get rid of the notification you need to uninstall Windows Update KB3035583 - this update purely creates this notification and will not affect anything else on your computer.
