What is an IPS tag?

An Internet Provider Security tag (IPS) is used to identify the company responsible for management of a .uk domain name. When moving a .uk domain name you will be given an IPS tag by the company you are moving your domain to. You will need to update the IPS tag in your domain control panel, or by providing it to the current domain host, in order for the new company to be able to take control of the domain. Once the IPS tag is changed, there is no way for the old host to undo this.
